TOKYO - Public relations network Weber Shandwick is expanding its coverage of the Japanese healthcare sector, and has appointed Kazuhiro Hoshi as senior vice-president of the division.

Akihiko Kubo, CEO of Weber Shandwick Japan

Hoshi will report directly to Akihiko Kubo, president and CEO of Weber Shandwick Japan.

“We’re very pleased to have an opportunity to bring Kazuhiro to Weber Shandwick,” said Kubo. “Our healthcare practice will continue to be a pivotal area of our business, particularly in light of Japan’s ageing society and the growing elderly population in China."

"As such, we’ve taken strategic measures to ensure we meet the unique needs of our healthcare clients, both domestically and internationally. Kazuhiro’s knowledge and position as an industry leader make him the ideal complement to an already impressive team under Jeffrey Gilbert (senior fellow).”

Hoshi comes to the firm with over 20 years of experience in the Japanese pharmaceutical sector. He served nearly ten years as director of communications for Janssen Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.

Speaking on his new role, Hoshi said, "I am truly delighted to begin the next phase of my career with the world-leading communication specialists at Weber Shandwick. I look forward to working alongside Jeffrey to help our local and global healthcare clients grow their businesses at home and abroad.”
