Weber Shandwick has reshuffled its China and regional leadership.
Corbin Hsieh has been appointed head of Weber Create and Consumer practice, APAC, in a newly created role. Based in Shanghai, Hsieh will partner with market heads to scale creative muscle and cultural relevance across the region, effective immediately.
A Weber stalwart of more than a decade, Hsieh rejoined the firm 11 years ago and became China MD in 2022, following earlier stints at Ketchum and Edelman.
Meanwhile, Robert Magyar succeeds him to double hat as the acting managing director, China, alongside his current role as EVP and head of Healthcare, APAC. A 20-year industry veteran, Magyar has grown Weber’s healthcare practice into one of its fastest-growing pillars since rejoining last year.
Before that, Magyar worked for over a decade at Sandpiper, most recenly leading its health business, and previously worked with Weber Shandwick in Beijing and Tokyo.
“China is one of the most dynamic markets globally, where reputation and stakeholder engagement matter more than ever,” said Magyar. "I am excited to build on our strong foundation here and continue supporting clients with the strategic solutions they need to succeed.”
The agency also announced the integration of Bridge Beijing, a boutique consultancy specialising in public policy and advisory services. Founded in 2016, Bridge Beijing is known for helping international organisations engage effectively with China, including long-standing work with the Gates Foundation and other global health and philanthropic partners.
Tyler Kim, CEO, APAC, Weber Shandwick, said, “These strategic leadership appointments, along with the integration of Bridge Beijing, represent a significant milestone in advancing our capabilities and deepening our commitment in China."
The appointments come less than two weeks after the agency named Shashikanth Someshwar as its new India CEO, effective October 1.
