WEB BRIEFINGS: SCMP.com acquires computing monthly PCHome

<p>Internet publisher and Greater China Web protal SCMP.com has </p><p>acquired one of Hong Kong's leading Chinese-language computer magazines, </p><p>PC Home. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>PC Home is the SAR's largest-circulation computing monthly, with a </p><p>readership of 40,000, and is the most-read monthly magazine within the </p><p>consumer technology sector. Its website (www.pchome.com.hk) is popular </p><p>with the 18-25 year-old group of savvy PC and Internet users. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>PC Home and its website will become part of the SCMP.com stable of </p><p>products and will be produced by the company's in-house technology team, </p><p>which also produces chinatech.scmp.com and technology.scmp.com. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>According to SCMP.com publisher Larry Campbell, PC Home will be turned </p><p>into a dotcom publishing operation with a print magazine, "rather than </p><p>the other way around". </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>"With this new direction, the product will be able to serve the majority </p><p>of the local market with consumer technology interests, while having the </p><p>reach to address the global Chinese community, too," he said. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>SCMP.com will also continue to produce, develop and distribute the </p><p>magazine side of PC Home. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
