Internet publisher and Greater China Web protal SCMP.com has
acquired one of Hong Kong's leading Chinese-language computer magazines,
PC Home.
PC Home is the SAR's largest-circulation computing monthly, with a
readership of 40,000, and is the most-read monthly magazine within the
consumer technology sector. Its website (www.pchome.com.hk) is popular
with the 18-25 year-old group of savvy PC and Internet users.
PC Home and its website will become part of the SCMP.com stable of
products and will be produced by the company's in-house technology team,
which also produces chinatech.scmp.com and technology.scmp.com.
According to SCMP.com publisher Larry Campbell, PC Home will be turned
into a dotcom publishing operation with a print magazine, "rather than
the other way around".
"With this new direction, the product will be able to serve the majority
of the local market with consumer technology interests, while having the
reach to address the global Chinese community, too," he said.
SCMP.com will also continue to produce, develop and distribute the
magazine side of PC Home.
