WEB BRIEFINGS: Japanese consumers go WAP-crazy

<p>Japan's Wap-crazed cellular 'phone space is one category </p><p>tech-consumers can't seem to get enough of, with a whopping six per cent </p><p>of all households in Japan owning Web-enabled phones, according to a </p><p>recent survey conducted by AC Nielsen and NetRatings. In league with the </p><p>February findings, the ownership of Web 'phones jumped by 11 per cent, </p><p>with Internet access in the home climbing by 1.4 per cent and Internet </p><p>capable PCs in Japan growing steadily to 40 per cent. Meanwhile in </p><p>Southeast Asia, the Lion City is proving the first backdrop for the </p><p>ACNielsen/NetRatings launch, with more than 2,500 at-home Singaporean </p><p>users joining the Internet measurement panel.
