Watch title times debut for mid-July in Singapore

SINGAPORE: A lifestyle title that covers watches and jewellery news will be launched in mid-July by the founder and former publisher of Asian Diver magazine.

Solitaire will be published by Singapore start-up Asia Media, which is owned by Rainer Sigel, who sold Asian Diver to Emap in 1999.

Sigel is confident the title will succeed, arguing that it is the only magazine of its type in the region. "Vogue has a jewellery magazine in Italy that is 350 pages; 200 of the pages are ads, he said.

The 112-page August/September issue will have a print run of 20,000 copies - 4,000 will be distributed free to executives in the watch and jewellery business. The rest will be distributed through newstands, subscriptions, hotels and airline first class cabins. Editorial will include celebrity cover stories, event news and a section discussing where gems come from.
