Pluto joins the media outlet from Mars, where she served as media relations and issues manager on the global external communications team.

The Washington Post has hired Liza Pluto as director of communications. 

Based in Washington, DC, Pluto is reporting to VP of PR Olivia Petersen. Kathy Baird is chief communications officer for the digital and print publication.

Pluto has joined The Post from Mars, where she was media relations and issues manager on the global external communications team. She has also worked as a communications manager at MSNBC, overseeing daily communications and implementing press campaigns for the network’s "Morning Joe" show, weekend programming and MSNBC Films. Before that, she worked as a senior publicity manager at PBS and a PR manager at CNN.

Founded in 1877, The Washington Post is a daily newspaper and digital media outlet owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos since 2013.
