The account will be handled out of Starcom's Mumbai office. Business director Girish Upadhyay will lead the account, reporting to Nikhil Rangnekar.
Rangnekar, executive director, India (West) for Starcom, said: ”Walt Disney is a strategic client partner for us in several markets around the world and we are happy to have been selected in India.”
He added: “We hope to leverage all the proprietary applications and competencies at our disposal to provide them with superior understanding of their consumers and strategic, business building solutions.”
Following a multi-agency pitch, Contract Advertising has also retained Disney’s creative business in India.
In Australia, Starcom and Carat are currently in a head-to-head pitch for Disney’s A$25 million (US$22 million) media planning and buying business.
Separately, Hong Kong Disneyland recently confirmed Ogilvy & Mather and M&C Saatchi as its new agencies of record.
