The agency has hired Lawrence Chan as vice-president to head the team responsible for Samsung mobile phone distributor First Mobile Group, and the distributor and assembler of Mitsubishi commercial vehicles, United Straits Fuso. Other VPs include Ong Bee Lin on GlaxoSmithKline, ING Insurance and Effem Malaysia (Mars), and Subarna Prabakar on Procter & Gamble. Both were previously group account directors at the agency.
The restructuring follows the recent introduction of the agency's 'Synchronised Marketing' approach, which was developed to help optimise the marketing communications mix and to achieve the most cost-effective business strategies for brands.
According to Chris Leong, president of Grey Southeast Asia, with just one to three accounts in each VP's portfolio, clients will be able to deal with more specialised agency teams.
"The onus is on us to provide our clients with the best and latest marketing communications solutions so as to optimise their marketing dollar and we must continue to push the envelope."
