VNU & IMS merge global operations

Global research and publishing company VNU (ACNielsen & NMR) will merge with pharmaceutical and healthcare solutions company IMS in a deal worth US$7 billion. The company will focus on three major industries: consumer packaged goods, healthcare and media and entertainment. The merger is expected to be completed by Q1 2006.
