Virgin Mobile tipped to hand $5m India media duties to MindShare

MUMBAI - Virgin Mobile is believed to be close to appointing MindShare to handle media duties ahead of its upcoming India launch, following a pitch that included as many as seven agencies.

The development comes after the UK-based brand earlier selected Bates David Enterprise for creative. Virgin Mobile is expected to launch in India via a 50:50 joint-venture with Tata TeleServices, which will see it roll out as a youth-targeted brand.

MindShare representatives declined to comment, while Virgin Mobile could not be reached at press time.
