Vietnam Airlines shortlists Bates and Ogilvy

HO CHI MINH CITY - WPP agencies Bates141 and Ogilvy & Mather are going head-to-head in a final round of pitching for the advertising account of Vietnam Airlines.

Both agencies have submitted technical and financial documentation for their strategy, creative and costings. A final round of presentation would take place before the result is made known on 30 June.

Tue T. Nguyen, GM at Bates 141 Vietnam, commented, The client is probably looking for overall strategy and good creative direction to take them further.

Two years ago, they bought new planes and rebranded with a logo change as well. So they’re serious about expanding and growing in this region.

The long-drawn pitch, which stalled in October 2007 due to pitch fees, was resurrected in April when the client dropped the need for the fees and had invited agencies back to pitch.
