Viacom Japan launches MTV mobile networking brand

TOKYO - Viacom International Japan, a subsidiary of MTV Networks, has launched social networking service myMTV, marking the first time the music and entertainment network has launched such a service globally.

The service will enable myMTV members to create profile pages, upload and share video and link to pages created by their friends or other content providers, and will also carry programming from MTV’s library.

The ad supported service will be free of charge to consumers, and will be available through Japan’s major mobile operators, NTT DoCoMo, KDDI and Softbank Mobile, giving the service a potential reach of 75 million 3G users.
