Veteran marketer Lee departs PCCW

HONG KONG - PCCW's senior vice-president of mobile commercial marketing, Melanie Lee, is on the hunt for a new role, after resigning her position at Hong Kong's leading telecoms company.

Lee attributed her decision to PCCW’s most recent restructuring, which came after the company phased out mobile brand Sunday.

Lee returned to Sunday in January 2006 as SVP of mobile marketing, after six years at New World Mobility.
“I am not so concerned about the phasing out of Sunday, but the restructure has left me quite uncomfortable,” said Lee.

PCCW decided to terminate the Sunday brand earlier this year, integrating it into its existing PCCW Mobile service.

While Lee was initially linked with the vacant Nokia account director role at JWT Beijing, it now appears that she is seeking a different role in Hong Kong.

She is considered one of Hong Kong’s most experienced telecoms marketers, after launching the Sunday brand in 1997. Prior to that, Lee headed the Seagram’s account at Ogilvy & Mather.
