The business is expected to be substantial given Vanke’s status as the biggest real estate company in China. Vanke recorded sales of over Rmb 50 billion (US$6.9 billion) in 2007 and is forecast to achieve sales of Rmb 15 billion in Shanghai alone in 2008.
The account shift follows the movement of key WE executives CEO Viveca Chan and MD Kenny Wong (pictured), who previously worked at Grey China.
WE becomes responsible for Vanke’s brand planning, including above-the-line, below-the-line and CRM for Shanghai.
“I worked on the account when I worked at Grey and have a strong understanding of the client,” said Wong.
“This is an important move, as the client has worked with Grey for so long. The creative chemistry and spark has flattened out. They want a fresh new marketing angle.”
