Vancouver Centre trebles size

Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre has been given the go-ahead for an expansion programme that will treble its size.

CANADA Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre has been given the go-ahead for an expansion programme that will treble its size. The US$384m development will increase exhibition, meeting and ballroom facilities to 47,870sqm from the current 12,400sqm. Renovated facilities on the existing Canada Place site will be linked to a new development on Burrard Landing to create an integrated convention and exhibition centre. Work is expected to begin later this year for a 2008 completion. Funding is being provided by the national Government, British Columbia and Tourism Vancouver.
