Valmont to open four China stores

Swiss skincare and cosmetics brand Valmont has hired branding consultant Brandworks to develop the look and identity for a chain of stores in China.

Brandworks managing direction Stephen Hoo said the consultancy, which has been tasked with developing the store's design concept, would leverage Switzerland's reputation for excellence in beauty and the expression of art for the outlets' look. "We decided on 'The Valmont Museum' as a platform for the retail branding and shop image," Hoo said. "Our strategy is to make the brand a collection of sensual and sensory experience for the customers." The China stores represent the first-ever investment in retail outlets globally for the brand, which until now had primarily operated spas in a number of markets, including Hong Kong, Barcelona and Dubai. Four stores are planned for the mainland, with two shops in Beijing, one in Nanjing and one in Chengdu. Valmont competes with another upscale Swiss brand, SwissLine, which has launched in China.
