Unilever awards ice cream brand to DDB

MANILA - Unilever has replaced McCann with DDB as its creative agency for its estimated US$10 million Selecta ice cream business after credentials presentations involving Lowe.

The shift follows the global Unilever ice cream agency alignment, which saw DDB and Lowe take the US$300 million business from McCann in January.

In the Philippines, Unilever is part of a joint venture with local firm RFM, which has a say in marketing procurement.

“This is an important win for us,” said Gil Chua, the CEO of DDB Philippines, which adds Selecta to Lipton in its Unilever brand portfolio. “We now have a strong foothold on the Unilever business.”

DDB has yet to be briefed on advertising strategy for Selecta for the rest of the year.
