Unif juice brand beats automotive advertisers to top spot

Automobile brands jostled for top spot in Thailand, but Unif managed to beat them all.

The Thailand Adwatch chart in September was dominanted by a number of hair and skincare brands; however, a TVC for the Unif non-alcoholic drink range scooped the top spot.

Drawing for second place in the chart were automotive brands Honda and Isuzu, with Yamaha's Automatic Motorcycle in 20th place. Created by Chuo Senko, the campaign for Honda's City ZX was launched in September with a TVC titled 'Progressive Mind'.

The spot features a man holding a set of keys while dreaming about what it would be like to drive the ZX. While he does so his eyes, which turn from black to blue, suggest that if his eye colour can change just by thinking about the car, imagine what could happen while he was actually driving the ZX. Print ads also supported the campaign highlighting details of ZXs functionality.

The Unif brand has gained popularity in the Thai market with its I-Firm fruit juices and Unif Green Tea brands, which now have five flavours -- Original, Lemon, Honey, Honey & Lemon and Barley. "The aim of Unif campaigns is to create the highest impact ad campaign by establishing the key message that Unif Green Tea chooses only top quality tea leaves for you," said S Robkob, BBDO Thailand's associate client service director.

Hair care brand Clinic Clear has two TVCs in the top 10, as does skin care retailer Pond's, with its Skin Lightening Cream and Perfect Results Cream taking 16th and 19th place respectively. Head & Shoulders, Dove and Sunsilk Shampoo all placed in the chart, as well as newcomer Mistine Pink Magic Lip Care, which entered at number 18 with a TVC for its lip balm.
