Uni-President hands accounts to M&C Saatchi

SHANGHAI - Uni-President Food China has handed two key pieces of business to M&C Saatchi, following a pitch that included four other agencies.

The food giant has selected the agency to handle its upcoming Beijing Olympics campaign. In addition, it has also handed its six instant noodle brands to M&C Saatchi. Both accounts were previously handled by Interpublic Group hotshop Can Create.

M&C Saatchi scooped the business, worth an estimated Rmb 200 million (US$27 million) in advertising spend, following a pitch that included Grey, Nitro, Meigao and Hakuhodo.

The development comes less than a year after Uni-President selected the fledgling IPG shop to handle the business. In late 2006, JWT was abruptly dismissed from handling the same advertising accounts, just two months after securing the business in a major multi-agency pitch.
