'Unexpected' plugs Visa on Discovery

BEIJING - Visa has teamed up with Discovery Networks Asia to help consumers discover the world through the eyes of China, while simultaneously providing the outside world with a glimpse into the mainland.

The short film series, Unexpected, has filmmakers from the mainland each producing their own mini-movie in six former Olympic host cities: Los Angles, Mexico City, Rome, Seoul, Sydney and Tokyo. The series, which will air on Discovery’s Travel & Living-branded channel, positions Olympic sponsor Visa as a partner to exploring the world. “Visa has worked closely with Discovery in providing support to the programme, from its creation to its implementation,” said a Visa China spokesperson.

“We want to capture the emotions and sense of pride that people feel when they live in an Olympic host city, and we hope to inspire more Chinese cardholders to use the convenience and reliability of the Visa card to explore the world around them.”

Four of the filmmakers were chosen after winning Discovery Channel’s First Time Filmmakers China initiative, with the other two independent directors selected by Visa.
The series of vignettes will run until early November.
