Tourism Malaysia poised to select incumbents

KUALA LUMPUR - Tourism Malaysia is expected to award a chunk of its RM150 million (US$44 million) advertising business to incumbents TBWA\ISC, Smascomm and Sen Media.

No official word has yet been given, although sources say these agencies are shoo-ins given their political connections. Smascomm, which handles the account for East Asia, including China, is also expected to pick up business targeting North Asia. TBWA\ISC will retain Europe, and gain South Africa. Sen Media will hang on to media buying duties in West and South Asia.

Other bits of the business, which include domestic, South Asia, Asean and events, have not yet been decided. Meanwhile presentations for the domestic portion of the US$10 million Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) creative review will take place today (Wednesday).

The deadline for proposals for TAT's international business is on Monday (8 October).
