Tough rules set for Indian airline pitch

Indian Airlines has initiated a pitch for its creative and media buying duties, said to be worth around Rs 20 crore (US$4.3 million).

Indian's two-year contract with its existing group of agencies — BBDO, Bates Enterprise, R K Swamy, Adfactors Advertising and Mode — is shortly to end. Though officials at Indian declined to comment, sources in the industry said stringent requirements are being set for the pitch. "Only agencies with Indian Newspaper Society accreditation, national operations with fully-fledged offices in Delhi and Mumbai, minimum billings of Rs 30 crore per year for the last three years and five years' experience of handling advertising work in the aviation or service industry are eligible," said a source. "They are also required to submit a 2,000-word write-up about the communication strategy, creative concept and media planning."
