Touchmedia expands China network

SHANGHAI - Taxi advertising provider Touchmedia has expanded its network in China, adding interactive screens in 3000 taxis in Beijing and 2000 taxis in Guangzhou in August, and 2000 more in Shenzhen in September.

“That will mean we are reaching over 10 million people a month and close to 80 per cent of ‘affluents’ (people in the top 10 per cent by income) are frequent taxi passengers in those cities,” explained Neil Ducray, MD of Touchmedia.

Touchmedia’s recent clients included General Electric, Starbucks, L’Oréal, Coca-Cola, Unilever and Dopod.

Touchmedia’s system is a touch-sensitive colour LCD screen installed in the back of the taxi’s headrest divided into three parts: video commercials, side bars and 10 icons of advertisers. In Beijing, GE is using the system to run a mini-website of maps of different Olympic venues.
