LONDON

Three leading hotel groups, Hilton International, Accor and Forte Hotel Group, have signed a euro 20million (US$18million) internet joint-venture agreement.

The website, scheduled to go live in the last quarter of the year, will allow online booking from the combined portfolio of hotels within Europe.

"While the percentage of our hotel bookings through the internet is still very small, there is no question this medium will grow over the next two to three years toward 15% of our total business," Hilton International chief executive Mr David Michels said.

The internet joint venture will also develop and operate a "hospitality marketplace" in Europe, which will give customers access to a range of products and services.
