Tomsett departs as Hoffman A-P chief

ASIA-PACIFIC - The Hoffman Agency Asia-Pacific MD Susan Tomsett (pictured) is departing her role on 1 May after almost two years with the agency.

Hoffman regional CEO Lou Hoffman confirmed that the agency was currently searching for Tomsett’s successor.

“The challenge is that a lot of the requirements we are looking for are pretty much the same as would you find at any of the megashops, but the wrinkle is we don’t operate like a megashop,” said Hoffman. “How we treat the financial side - with a single regional P&L - gives this role a different flavour. It’s not for everybody.”

“During my tenure the team structure and leadership in the region has evolved and in my view is the strongest it has ever been,” said Tomsett. “The firm in Asia-Pacific has invested in several strategic business initatives focusing on people, through our training and talent development function, and for clients.”

At year end 2007 Hoffman Asia increased staffing by 22 per cent and recorded revenue growth of 42 per cent. Hoffman noted that growth of key client Google had “leveled off” and was instead driven by new clients such as Dassault and Irdeto.

“However as we all need to do from time to time, I have had to consider my next career move,” continued Tomsett. “I have come to realise that my long-term objectives would be best served by other opportunities and a return to a position that will enable me to address a broader mix of clients, industries, and marketing disciplines.”

Tomsett succeeded Whitney Small as Hoffman regional MD, after previously heading Burson-Marsteller China.
