TNS' Yap to relocate to the UK

HONG KONG - Stephen Yap (pictured), director of client services and insight at global research firm TNS, is preparing to relocate from his current base in Hong Kong to the UK, where he will assume the role of group director from September.

Yap said that the new position, which he was reluctant to describe as a promotion, would not differ greatly from his current role but would involve increased focus on developing cross-regional collaboration between Europe and the US and Asia Pacific. He added that his client portfolio would predominantly be in the technology sector.

“It’s an opportunity for me to be at the coalface, working directly with many of our clients,” he said, pointing out that a large proportion of the company’s client partners were headquartered in North America and Europe.

He added that TNS was taking an increasingly hub-oriented approach, with UK-based teams working in close co-operation with Hong Kong- and Singapore-based counterparts to ensure “the right people do the right work”.

Yap’s UK assignment brings to an end a period of 12 years in Asia, seven of which were spent at TNS. Prior to that, his career in the region included a stint at Ogilvy & Mather and the establishment of interactive measurement service Iamasia.
