TNS shows off panel's speed with Disney poll

As many as 63 per cent of more than 500 respondents said they would choose Shanghai Disneyland over Hong Kong if the entertainment giant opened its theme park on the mainland, according to TNS

The researcher turned around results of a flash poll of four China cities overnight to demonstrate the speed and efficiency of response with its online access panel -- 6thdimension -- which launched in China at the end of last month.

Sandy Chen, TNS associate director for China, said 6thdimension rolled out with a launch base of 10,000 respondents, and is on target to double the number shortly.

The flash poll saw TNS send out invites to respondents in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Chengdu on Monday, with the poll going live the following day and analysis of the results from 526 respondents completed the next day.

Apart from cost and time efficiencies, Chen said online research enabled efficient targeting of key groups and was possible in China as internet penetration had reached an acceptable level. China is the eighth market in Asia-Pacific to launch 6thdimension, which TNS says allows clients and agencies to undertake customised market research, including ad-testing through the panel's AdEval tool. The poll on Disney also found that 72 per cent favoured Disney opening in Shanghai.
