TMI chooses Torpedo to build Hello brand in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH - Telekom Malaysia International has handed its creative duties for Hello, its Cambodian mobile phone brand, to the little known Malaysian agency Torpedo Ideas.

An eventful review saw a number of re-pitches, confusion over the scope of the account and one declination to pitch - from former incumbent agency BatesAsia, which introduced the brand to Cambodia last year.

Torpedo claimed the business ahead of Astana International, Adfocus, Reddot, Addon and Bassac Orchid. The latter teamed up with M&C Saatchi Malaysia, which handles Celcom, Telekom Malaysia's mobile business.

Hello's new agency has a brief to build the fledgling brand and gain market share. Hello is Cambodia’s third-largest mobile telco, with 269,000 subscribers.
