TMI calls regional rebranding pitch

KUALA LUMPUR - TM International (TMI), Southeast Asia's second largest telecom company, has called a regional rebranding pitch involving five agencies.

The telco giant changed its name from Telekom Malaysia International a few years back to TM International and is looking to launch a rebranding campaign in 10 countries in which it operates across Asia.

In Southeast Asia TMI has a strong presence in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia. The group's mobile subsidiaries and associates operate under the brand name Celcom in Malaysia, XL in Indonesia, Hello in Cambodia and M1 in Singapore.

Five agencies including Lowe, McCann Erickson, DraftFCB, M&C Saatchi and Saatchi & Saatchi have been invited to pitch. TMI’s account is currently split between M&C Saatchi and DraftFCB.

The telecom group currently has about 50 million mobile subscribers across the region.
