Tinted lens maker shifts account Down Under

SYDNEY: Saatchi & Saatchi's Sydney office has assumed control of the Asia-Pacific account for Transitions Optical, shifting the account management out of Asia.

The shift from Singapore means reduced costs for Transitions which, according to Saatchis Sydney group account director Mary Bolditon, was paying American rather than the much cheaper Australian dollar for its regional advertising work. Transitions also recently relocated its regional head office from Singapore to Sydney.

Transitions Optical claims to be the world's leading manufacturer of variable tinted lenses.

Commercial manager, Eric Breda, said Saatchis Sydney was awarded the account without a pitch on the basis of its earlier local work.

"The appointment is a real pat on the back for Saatchis' Sydney healthcare team, Breda said. "They are a highly professional team who have played a crucial role in growing our Australian business."

Australia now represents 85 per cent of Transitions' sales in Asia-Pacific.

Saatchis Sydney will now manage and coordinate all of Transitions' marketing work for New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, India and Japan.
