Thuraya Telecommunications picks The Upper Storey for global digital account

SINGAPORE - Leading global mobile satellite operator Thuraya Telecommunications has appointed The Upper Storey (TUS) to drive its new brand presence across consumer, business and employee channels online.

Headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, Thuraya offers mobile handheld, data, maritime, rural telephony, fleet management and other innovative and customised telecom solutions, and has businesses across 140 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

The Upper Storey has the right mix of creative and strategic excellence, combined with superior account service, cost-effective production capacity and 3D skills that will truly make us stand out in the market place,” explained Melissa Donnelly, manager, market communications and brand at Thuraya.

The brief will extend through internal and external touch points including the internet, extranet and intranet to communicate Thuraya’s revamped brand positioning and global image.

TUS’ new Mumbai office will coordinate the work. The agency’s 3D and motion graphics team, Mofuro, will take on modelling, Studio TUS in Kuala Lumpur will take on site production, while planning and conceptualizing will be based out of its Singapore headquarters.

While it has no plans for a Dubai office yet, TUS is thought to be eyeing the Middle East market in the coming months.

“The whole purpose behind us going regional was so we could be better placed to pick up wins from homegrown brands in Asia, as well as the Middle East and Africa, with a global mindset. We believe Thuraya will be the first of many who will capitalise on the value we bring to the table,” said Prakash Kamdar, MD and co-founder of TUS.
