The capital's five-star hotels update

CEI Asia Pacific brings readers the latest developments from Bangkok's luxury hotels

InterContinental Bangkok has completed the first phase of its US$20 million refurbishment. The hotel’s convention centre has new carpeting, customised lighting and new conferencing technology. The grand ballroom now has three built-in digital video cameras to stream live video, a modern lighting system allowing a projection of 16 million colours, remotecontrolled
pin spotlights and chiffon columns with custom back-lighting.

Almost half of the hotel’s 381 guestrooms have been refurbished to feature a more
contemporary design. Work to the rest of the hotel is scheduled to be complete
by June.

Pullman Bangkok King Power opened last October. The 386-room five-star hotel is
the debut of Accor’s upmarket Pullman brand and is attached to the King Power
Duty Free Shopping Complex. The property claims to be the first international hotel in
Bangkok to offer net price on F&B services.

The hotel has more than 1,000 sqm of function space. Its grand ballroom can cater for up to 600 people for a standing cocktail reception and 400 people for a sitdown dinner. There are five fully equipped meeting rooms, between 64 sqm and 128 sqm in size.

Banyan Tree Bangkok recently completed extensive renovations, which included the opening of a grand ballroom and the enlargement of its Banyan Tree Club floor across a whole high floor. The ballroom can accommodate up to 400 guests and has a five-metre-high ceiling. All six of the hotel’s restaurants and the lobby have been renovated.
