Thakral's loyalty programme links with SmartClub

Thakral Home Video, China's largest home video distributor, has teamed up with SmartClub to launch a national promotion that rewards purchasers of legitimate home video products with SmartPoints rewards.

The three-month programme, which will launch on January 15, will reward consumers with 100 SmartPoints for each purchase, via a unique number consumers send to SmartClub through a website or SMS. These SmartPoints can then be redeemed with other SmartClub partners, including McDonald's, Quest Sports, eLong and Chow Tai Fook. "They want to differentiate themselves from the pirates, and they want to know who are the users of legal copies, because they are very rare in China," explained SmartClub managing director Joy Lee. "Thakral is helping build an awareness of the value of copyright, and the importance of supporting legitimate artists."
