Thailand IPO rush a boon for 124

Local PR agency 124 Communications has picked up nine accounts over the last two months as companies rush to go public ahead of the year-end abolition of a favourable tax break.

LPN Plate Mill, Thai Steel Cable, Siam Gas, Permsin Steel Works, Superblock, Glow Energy, Salee Industry, Singlepoint Parts and Asia Circuit Leasing are all scheduled to list on the Thailand Stock Exchange by the end of the third quarter, said 124 president Nimitz Modrakee.

"The assignment is standard -- to help our clients communicate with the investment community and ensure that the media view their businesses positively," he said. Messages will be targeted at several audiences: local and international investment institutions, retail investors, local and international media, stock analysts, offices of the Stock Exchange and government institutions. "You need a staff capable of understanding the financial business and timing is crucial," Modrakee said. "Also, everything you say must be approved by the financial advisor and you need to make sure that you are not in violation of any Government regulations."

IPO assignments last typically for six months, but the relationship is often extended to handle post-listing work.
