THA appoints Prakit as new president

BANGKOK Prakit Chinamournphong has been elected as the new president of the Thai Hotels Association (THA) for this year and 2010.

Prakit, who is CEO of TCC Hotels Management, is a THA veteran and served as the association’s vice-president for ten years before being voted to the top role at the end of March.

Prakit said the newly elected THA board committee would emphasise its online tourism
marketing strategy through the THA website, www.thaihotels.org.

It will also support the Tourism Authority of Thailand in meeting its 2008 revenue target of US$25.3 billion.

Prakit said training courses for hotel staff were also part of a plan to support the increasing
number of rooms. About 6,000 to 7,000 new rooms are expected to open in Bangkok within the next few years.

Prakit replaces Dusit International CEO and managing director, Chanin Donavanik, who was at the helm for two consecutive terms.
