SHANGHAI Tequila\China has embarked on a senior management reshuffle with a series of key promotions.

Shanghai group creative director Juan Tan has been promoted to ECD China, taking over the Tequila portion of the previously combined duties handled by Yang Yeo, who will now focus solely on TBWA China's client roster.

Associate creative director KK Chen has been elevated to creative director to cover a number of Tan's previous responsibilities, and Eric Wong will now take on the newly-created role of business development director, China, in conjunction with Tan and Tequila China managing director, David Hunt.

"It's a sign of how we're moving forward and it shows that we're becoming even more focussed in China," said Hunt.

It's expected Tan will continue to take a leading role with many of his existing clients, including Chivas and Virgin, although Hunt noted the agency was currently interviewing candidates to expand its creative resources further and handle the increasing workload.

The reshuffle comes as Guangzhou Watson's Food & Beverage, a member of the Hong Kong-based A.S. Watson Group, handed the agency its Watson's Mixer brand, which includes soda and tonic water and ginger ale without a pitch.

Tequila has been tasked with developing a new platform for the brand, which will encompass an integrated through-the-line campaign.

According to Hunt the China mixed drink category is valued in excess of US$250 million.
