TCEB names Natwut as incoming president after long search process

BANGKOK Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has appointed Natwut Amornvivat as the new president of the governmentfunded organisation. He replaces acting director general, Kwanchai Modpradit, with immediate effect. The position of director general has been replaced by president.

Natwut is a newcomer to the industry, having previously worked in the technology sector.
At 34 years of age he ushers in a new, more youthful era for TCEB.

“The title has changed but the responsibilities are the same as director general,” said Natwut.
The incoming TCEB president told CEI Asia Pacific that all policies were under review and
that currently a 90-day rolling plan was in place.

He said: “Our vision of becoming the international MICE hub of Southeast Asia by 2011 will not change, but what we need is better execution.”
Natwut added there would be four major areas of focus.

He said: “First we will look to add value both financially and non-financially to MICE business in Thailand; second, communicate more effectively; third, work at a government level to achieve such things as smooth entry processes for delegates coming to Thailand; and fourth, to improve our capabilities and achieve certification to meet European standards.”

TCEB is expecting US$1.7 billion in revenue in 2007 and a total of 700,000 delegates.
