TBWA campaign bags Marketer of the Year prize

HONG KONG: SK Telecom Group walked off with Media's Marketer of the Year award for a campaign that taught Koreans how to cheer on the national side after the telco was locked out of marketing for the World Cup.

The TBWA campaign also picked up a Certificate of Excellence in the Advertiser of the Year: Creative category. "They created a chant and taught a whole nation how to cheer - an idea that was not only outstanding but impressive," said judge Eddie Booth.

The 'Who is Adam King?' campaign for Guinness Singapore - executed by MindShare Singapore - was awarded Advertiser of the Year: Media.

J. Walter Thompson snagged the Agency of the Year award, eight years after its last win; and Optimum Media Direction was named Media Agency of the Year.

TBWA/Asia-Pacific's Keith Smith was named Agency Head of the Year and the Creative Person of the Year award went to Piyush Pandey of Ogilvy & Mather India.
