TBWA boosts HK senior team with two new hirings

TBWA has made two senior hires as part of an initiative to further strengthen its management and leadership teams, following significant growth in 2005.

Ruby Lee has been appointed to the role of director of client services, reporting to TBWA\Hong Kong CEO Ian Thubron and MD Joanne Lao. She was previously group brand director at Leo Burnett, responsible for award-winning work on accounts such as One2Free and Hang Seng Bank. Benny Chung hasbeen named group CD, reporting to ECD James Cheung. Chung has 15 years' experience in the industry, working at Ogilvy & Mather, Grey, JWT and DDB. "The appointments of Ruby and Benny are the final stages of the re-engineering of our senior management team, with the aim to mirror the significant growth we enjoyed last year," said Thubron. Lee and Chung will work together to oversee the agency's Hong Kong business, on accounts including Sunday, Cheung Kong, Sony, Mars and Nivea. The new appointments follow Lao's promotion last month to MD of both the TBWA and Tequila brands in Hong Kong, as well as the appointment of Sebastian Lembke as creative director. Lao was instrumental in setting up Tequila\Hong Kong in 2002, as well as helping the agency win the Standard Chartered account last year. Meanwhile, Barbara Yeh, group brand director, will be taking over CSL's One2Free and Hang Seng Credit Card accounts from Lee at Burnett Hong Kong.
