TBWA beats five to grab Woongjin Coway's Cuchen

TBWA Korea has been awarded Woongjin Coway's pressure cooker brand Cuchen's business, covering creative, media planning and buying and promotions.

The agency beat incumbent Oricom after a five-way pitch, which also involved Welcomm, Diamond and JWT.

Cuchen launched in Korea last year, competing against local brands Cuckoo and Bubang. Cuchen is expected to spend US$5 million on advertising in the second half of this year. TBWA\Korea's managing director, Nam Kyung Woo, said a campaign would break in September. Separately, TBWA has won internet game site Hangame's $1 million creative, media planning and buying and promotion business following a pitch against incumbent Mate Communications. "We have to increase user frequency of the site through our disruptive strategy," said Nam.

The agency already handles the NHN's Naver business. A campaign is expected to launch in mid-August. sm
