This year’s event brought together 12 Australian convention bureaux and 38 industry partners, who met with more than 100 Asian meeting planners and incentive agents from 11 countries for one-to-one business appointments.
For the first time the event also included a VIP programme for industry leaders from
Australia to experience how Australia’s business events are promoted in Asia.
The event was also the first international trade show under Tourism Australia’s new brand –
Business Events Australia.
Tourism Australia managing director, Geoff Buckley, said he expected substantial business
for Australia as a result of the trade show.
Head of business events Australia, Joyce DiMascio, said the success of TABEE over its
ten-year history was testimony to the Australian industry’s commitment to the sector.
“Australia’s success in the business events sector can be attributed to the fact we can
tailor experiences such as teambuilding to the needs of our customers – rather than
just taking a one size fits all approach,” she said.
Three teambuilding activities were included in the TABEE programme to illustrate the
diversity of experiences available to assist businesses in meeting their corporate objectives.
DiMascio acknowledged the support of Hedgehog Events and Sabre Corporate Development
for their sponsorship of the event.
