The Stockholm-based agency, whose clients include Absolut Vodka, H&M, Electrolux and Nokia, will open the Tokyo branch on 1 August. It will be headed by chief executive Jun Inoue, previously corporate director of Great Works' sister agency TYO-ID.
The Gunn Report, which measures agencies' success according to the awards they have won, ranked Great Works as the sixth best interactive advertising agency in the world in 2007. It has won bronze Lions at Cannes for its work for Absolut for the past two years.
