Surging handset brand ZTE pitches creative

SHENZHEN - Domestic telecoms giant ZTE is pitching its creative business, as the country gears up for the launch of 3G services.

It is believed that several agencies are lining up to contend for the account, including McCann Erickson, Publicis and Euro RSCG. China is currently conducting a 10-city trial of its 3G network, a process that has already seen ZTE secure a lucractive contract from China Mobile to build a high speed wireless pilot network.

The first 3G handset procurement offer is also expected in October, when China Mobile will tender contracts worth up US$785 million for two million 3G handsets; ZTE is expected to be one of the prime bidders. 

ZTE’s current market share in China has surged to reach almost five percent. At present its eight million CDMA handsets already surpasses Motorola and LG.
