Suntory selects Ogilvy for mainland whisky assignment

SHANGHAI - Ogilvy & Mather has prevailed in a pitch against several Japanese advertising agencies to secure a new brief that involves repositioning Suntory's whisky portfolio in China.

According to Ogilvy China vice chairman Joseph Wang, the agency saw off competition from Dentsu, Hakuhodo, Asatsu-DK and Daiko.

The brief is believed to call on Ogilvy to shift perceptions of Suntory in China, where its brand has been disproportionately influenced by its beer business.
