Students eyed in ads for Republic Polytechnic offer

Splash Productions has been assigned Re-public Polytechnic's (RP's) new marketing campaign, as it gears up for its move to a new campus in the north of the city.

The agency, which recently took flight following the defection of five senior staffers from Firefly Studio, is handling all of the design and communications duties for RP's upcoming open house season, during which it will aim to persuade prospective students of its advantages over the island state's four other polytechnic institutions. The open house will take place on RP's new Woodlands campus, due for completion by the end of 2006. "We have to strike a balance between showing enough to attract people and not being able to show everything, because building work is still going on," said Splash chief Terry Lee. Splash will roll out a campaign comprising advertising and advertorial executions. "We have to make sure the above-the-line does two things; one, it has a strong tie in to support admissions and it supports RP's positioning as being unconventional, radical and capable of thinking differently. Lee added that the advertising programme would include an "eye-catching execution" at a high-traffic location in late December or early January, but declined to disclose further details.
