Strong sales at Wine for Asia 2006

SINGAPORE Wine for Asia (WFA) 2006, an event organised by Singex Exhibitions and Wine Resources, attracted 15,000 trade visitors at Singapore Expo from November 2-4.

The fourth WFA attracted 450 exhibitors, including a record 19 country pavilions. The organisers hosted 250 premium-wine buyers from Asia while another 1,800 trade visitors attended the event. New Zealand Winegrowers marketing executive for Australia and Asia, Maree Saunders, said two New Zealand exhibitors sold three pallets of wine, which is almost 1,900 bottles. "Thirty-five wineries took part and every one is happy with the progress made," she said. Australian company Simply Diwine had an order from a Chinese buyer for an entire container of Tindini Cabernet Sauvignon - 6,000 casks or 24,000 bottles. Although the contract price was not revealed, a three-litre Tindini cask retails for US$25 in the US.
