STI narrows field for creative pitch

JAKARTA - Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia (STI) has selected three agencies - Lowe, BBDO and local shop Fortune - for the second round of its creative pitch (Media, 27 July).

According to Pongky Puranto, STI’s brand manager, a decision is expected in mid-September.

Incumbent First Edition, which was on the initial shortlist, did not make the cut. “It had the opportunity to present ideas to us, but it did not do it well,” said Puranto.

A source involved in the pitch has estimated the account’s total billings at US$1.5 million.

The first campaign is slated to run on 17 October.

STI is one of 10 mobile operators in Indonesia. It was formed when the Sampoerna Group bought a controlling stake in Mandara Sesular Indonesia in 2006, following the sale of its cigarette business to Philip Morris International.
