Stewart returns to Moto after agency unit disbands

SYDNEY - Neil Stewart will return to Motorola one year after departing the company, following the disbandment of WPP's dedicated Vodafone Australia unit, One Barrack Street.

The unit formally lost its hold on the A$38 million (US$33 million) business last week, after Vodafone appointed Clemenger Group to handle the lion’s share of the business. However, after Vodafone called the review in July of this year, One Barrack Street, which was housed within WPP’s STW Group, indicated it would not contest the key brand advertising component of the business.

Stewart joined One Barrack Street 12 months ago to lead the bespoke agency, after four years with Motorola. He will relocate to Singapore in mid-October to head marketing for Asia, excluding Greater China, for Motorola’s mobile devices business, reporting to global marketing VP Jeremy Dale.  Previously, Stewart as marketing director for Motorola’s high-growth markets division, a role that was eliminated after Motorola chose to structure its operations around traditional geographies.
