Stepworks begins iPhone services

HONG KONG - Branding and marketing firm Stepworks will begin designing and programming iPhone applications for clients and explore their marketing potential in an effort to capitalise on the handset's growing popularity throughout the region.

Managing director of Stepworks Stephen Barry noted reports indicating that the influence of iPhone applications are poised to expand this year.

“According to BusinessWeek, Apple is on target to sell over 40 million app compatible devices a year,” he said in a release. “Over 500 million apps had been downloaded by mid-January 2009. These are reaching a generally affluent and fast-growing audience of influencers. We believe apps offer a valuable communications channel for certain client sectors.”

According to the company, its first application retells the children’s story The Little Red Hen in Cantonese, English and Spanish. This will be followed by other applications created for parents and children.
