Steigrad's role scaled back in Y&R reshuffle

ASIA-PACIFIC: Peter Steigrad, Young & Rubicam's former chairman and chief executive for Asia-Pacific, has had his responsibilities scaled back further as the network's advertising and direct agencies merge management teams.

Steigrad, whose responsibilities as regional chairman and CEO were reduced to Australia and New Zealand last month, will now only serve as chairman of both markets.

Australia and New Zealand operations will be managed by Hamish McLennan, Y&R Australasia's new CEO. McLennan was until recently national managing director of George Patterson Bates.

The changes are part of a bigger reshuffle taking place at DY&R and Impiric, which have introduced a common management structure at the behest of clients wanting a "single door entry", said Daniel Morel, global CEO of Wunderman, the name Impiric uses outside Asia. Morel said senior clients with business split between the two agencies wanted to deal with executives in positions comparable to theirs.

As part of the change, DY&R Singapore chairman, Brian Harrison, will be responsible for Impiric operations in six Southeast Asian markets.

Impiric's Greater China operations will be run by Impiric Hong Kong managing director, Daniel Ko, and Bernard Yiu, DY&R Hong Kong and China MD.
